Confess the Truth or Assent to Evil

(quote: George Orwell)

“Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven. Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth.” Jesus (Matt 10)

"I charge [you] in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, Who is to judge the living and the dead, and by (in the light of) His coming and His kingdom: Herald and preach the Word! Keep your sense of urgency [stand by, be at hand and ready], whether the opportunity seems to be favorable or unfavorable. [Whether it is convenient or inconvenient, whether it is welcome or unwelcome, you as preacher of the Word are to show people in what way their lives are wrong.] And convince them, rebuking and correcting, warning and urging and encouraging them, being unflagging and inexhaustible in patience and teaching. For the time is coming when [people] will not tolerate (endure) sound and wholesome instruction, but, having ears itching [for something pleasing and gratifying], they will gather to themselves one teacher after another to a considerable number, chosen to satisfy their own liking and to foster the errors they hold, And will turn aside from hearing the truth" St Paul (1st century AD)

“With the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:10

"Political correctness is communist propaganda writ small. In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, nor to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is to co-operate with evil, and in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. I think if you examine political correctness, it has the same effect and is intended to." Theodore Dalrymple

Your God or god is not made manifest by your church attendance but by your everyday confession and the worshipful act of your obedience. There is only one true church of Jesus, one Bride of Christ being made ready for His wedding feast – the confessing church. The silent church is the assenting church, the recanting church, the cowards, the idolaters. Dietrich Bonhoeffer — 'Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: God will not hold us guiltless. Not to speak is to speak. Not to act is to act.'

Love is not wafty tolerance. Love is not complicit silence. Love is not entrenched in the latest box-set, mesmerised by the ease and technology of my home entertainment unit. Love is first and foremost biblical, defined by God, who is love. Love gets down and dirty in the trenches of human despair, love acts, love speaks up boldly, love warns, love says “you are going to hell over my dead body.”

Religion requires Grace empowers

N. T. Wright writes, “Tolerance is a cheap, low-grade parody of love. Tolerance is not a great virtue to aspire to. Love is much tougher and harder.” Neither is grace weak, licentious or humanistic. Grace which doesn’t empower righteousness is perversion. Grace will say in one breath "Neither do I condemn you..." and in the next "Go and sin no more".

There is a very deceptive, cheap grace offered up right now by the man-fearing, politically correct church. So-called leaders high up in church corridors are compromising and sacrificing the absolute truths of God on the altars of human relevance and political acceptability. In doing so they are shutting up the kingdom to those who might otherwise have entered in and putting countless souls in danger of hell fire with their watered-down, gospel of idolatry. This is far from love.

These ones are wolves dressed as sheep. And so they cannot love the sheep; they are loving themselves, loving their ecclesiastical careers. These so-called ambassadors of the church of Jesus Christ, they preach not the gospel of Calvary; there is no command to repent (Acts 17:30), no death to self in baptism, no word on eternal judgement (a mere foundational doctrine), no loving and trembling at the scriptures and crying out for the fire of God's spirit. There's little fear and reverence for God and His word in these man-bowing social clubs - mostly a washed out, consumer-driven, pagan morality with a powerless, sexless, trinket god of convenience. Small wonder the media and press are laughing at large sections of the spineless, saltless church of the west.

This harlot church, and that's what spiritual adultery and the loving of the world must sadly be called (James 4:4),  has adopted political language, bowed to the spirit behind political correctness, and forsaken the proclamation of the scriptures. "Political correctness is mind control, enforced through punishments, intimidation and shamings. It’s worked very well”, comments Will Stuart Lee. Eric Arnold continues, “PC is a spiritual tool tied into a kind of Jezebelian attack on authority, manhood & genuine prophetic unction.” George Orwell said this - ‘Political language – and with variations this is true of all political parties, from Conservatives to Anarchists – is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind.’ In other words, I will fart out of my mouth, you will give me power. And when it comes to the church, I will keep the peace, you’ll let me have a license to meet on a Sunday morning.

Receive Power to Preach

Whereas Jesus commands His army to "Preach the gospel to all creation." Immersed in the power and love of the Holy Ghost and fire, we are to act as humble, laid-down, messengers of the Most High God, not cringing sycophants. We’re to hit the rooftops, the streets, the lanes, the highways, the hedges, to compel the lost to come in that His “house might be full” (Luke 14). My impression is that most of the western church (I generalise and say this with the heaviest of hearts) retreats to the nave on a Sunday morning and asks, "is there a plan B?"

I make no apology for my direct, offensive and forthright approach. One Day (soon) we are all going to be judged by the Word of God. It's well worth we wrestle and come clean now. God start with me. Some reading this will think I am proud, judgmental, condemning. That is your privilege.

I would say this: first, I am commanded to judge the church (1 Cor 5, whole chapter but particularly last few verses). Second, the truth is I am gripped, heartbroken, angry. I feel as if I cannot go another day without national repentance, revival and the healing of our land. Just recently my friends and I were thrown out of a leisure centre in Cornwall for gently, lovingly telling an old lady that "Jesus loves you." The staff at reception accused us of harassing her and ordered us out of the building. I asked said staff members if we could talk to her about football instead. No reply. No eye contact.

Our nation is in dire straits and it is time for large scale spiritual revolution.
If you needed any reminder that the Almighty God of the New Testament, not merely Old Testament, is not to be parlayed with then ask Ananias and Saphira (Acts 5). These two were born again believers, part of the early church, disciples of Jesus, offering money to the work of the church. But they lied in their giving and both dropped down dead on the spot by the power of the HOLY SPIRIT.

The Great and Dreadful Day

We need a fresh revelation on the holiness of God and His righteous judgement. It's going to come at us like a freight train In any case on the Great Day, whether we like it or not, so wisdom is to have died before you die. Love warns, as well as comforts. Love extends mercy now, with the warning that judgement is coming.

The enemy to the faith at the moment is scripture-erasing, liberal rebellion that compromises the absolute truths of God on the altar of political acceptability. This Ahab church suckles on the unholy milk of Jezebel's teat, heaps up deceived teachers who teach doctrines of demons (1 Tim 4) and the commandments of men, who make a golden calf of Jesus to suit the lusts of their flesh, who win one proselyte and make him twice as much a son of hell as themselves and accuse the faithful of being legalistic and lacking compassion. Lies! We need to return to the beauty of holiness and the lifestyle martyrdom that our forefathers faithfully demonstrated. It is this great cloud of witnesses that must become our audience once again.

Paul Washer writes, "People tell me 'judge not, lest ye be judged. I tell them, 'twist not the scripture, lest ye be like Satan."

Compassion is a deep and strong drive of love from the gut that loves in truth, that is mature, that is sacrificial, that is willing to take a beating for the salvation, the eternal good of their neighbour. “To live is Christ to die is gain.”

Is there not a Cause?

Church! We have forgotten why we are born again. Our lives are not our own. “Is there not a cause?” cried David to the army of Israel petrified before Goliath. We have sold our birthright for a comfortable bowl of soup. It doesn’t matter whether you are standing inside the furnace or outside of the furnace. It doesn't matter if the authorities are making things seven times hotter, it only matters that you went with Jesus and that He is standing next to you.

Never compromise faithfulness for worldly comfort. It’s a mirage and the end is misery. For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Never sacrifice the anointing for respectability with man. Andrew Foster writes, "We must shout the whole counsel of the gospel from the rooftops! Our politically correct, over sensitive, conformist society has permeated our air conditioned churches with a lukewarmness of the Laodicean church." Lukewarm Christianity makes Jesus vomit. And so it ought to make us sick also. Those He loves He rebukes and chastens. May we repent and be zealous.

It goes on to say in Acts 5:12-13, "And through the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon’s Porch. Yet none of the rest dared join them, but the people esteemed them highly." I am afraid we are so desperate to be relevant, that we are oceans away from the reverence, the high esteem that makes people hardly dare join His holy church. May our carnal slumber, idolatry and silent, hiding cease and those days of authentic, sacrificial, zealous, white-hot eklesiastic glory return to these lands, so help us God.
